The above 1G mothers/stampers shows that this is the VERY FIRST AND EARLIEST PRESS from june 29th1968,not only that but only first issues had the mispress on the cover and label that have the credit to "Gilmore"..it should be "Gilmour" and was later changed to this
A original 1968 copy..very rare especially in mono
The Garrod & lofthouse patents pending flipback cover is very clean with no tears,stickers,writing,browning or ring wear and grades a wonderful Near mint.The front has no laminate damage..just a few edge creases and a couple of half moon creases near the opening,the corners are nice with minor rubbing on the spine corners which is minimal!.The back is clean with some flipback creases and a small square piece of laminate lifting on the flipback next to the spine..this again is small..scans avaliable,the seams and spine have no damage or splits and the spine text is clear and readable
The black/blue columbia labels which have "The gramophone co" and "sold in uk" are Excellent with some light marks and a tiny bit of wear around the hole..again minimal
The record which comes in an emi ads inner sleeve looks stunning with full gloss and no groove wear,hairline marks or scratches..really does look great and visually looks Near mint....fantastic and visualy probably THE BEST COPY I HAVE SEEN!!!,Side 1 plays well with a little light crackle between tracks and in some quiet passages most notibaly on the start of "Remember a day" and "....the controls for the heart of the sun" but these do not overshadow the music and there is no sound distortion and it does not stick or jump.Side 2 plays with background noise which again you can hear in quiet passages and especially of the first few minutes of "A saucerful of secrets"..again though it does not stick or jump.This album is impossible to find an original copy that is quiet as it has so many instrumentals on side 2
