VERY GOOD (CLEAN disc with only LIGHT playwear, there are a few handling marks across the sides all of which are small and light and of no consequence really, apart from some occasional light click, and the quality of the audio is really good with clearly defined notes and reproduction). OK HERE COMES THE RUB. A long time ago someone ( and it wasn't me, but I have been guilty of such stupidy over the years) thought they could lessen the impact of what appears to be a small scratch at the beginning of side 2 by further scratching along it for about 1/2" witdh with their fingernail in the grooves, and as we all know you should'nt do that because all you end up with is a mess. I have worked on this and managed to remove a lot of it, but it till sounds pretty bad. From the beginning for about 15 seconds thre are a series of clicks and jumps starting small and getting quite loud and then fading away again. The good thing is that as you get into the music as it progresses you forget all about the intro to Money

                               DETAILS

The Dark Side of the Moon is the pinnacle of 70s studio rock and the defining statement of Pink Floyd's second incarnation. Expanding upon the sonic experimentations of Meddle, and "Echoes" in particular, Pink Floyd combines blues rock structures with progressive rock instrumentation and jazz flourishes to create a rich blend of atmospheric music.

This is a unique and unforgettable album that demands uninterrupted listening and hurls you into a timeless and surreal trip. The record also has one of the most iconic titles and identifiable covers, which are embedded in popular culture and perfectly match the spacey and mysterious feel of the music.

The album finds Pink Floyd at the peak of their musical abilities, with David Gilmour consistently laying out some of the most spectacular and memorable guitar solos in rock history and Richard Wright's keyboards building thick textures to drift around them. Nick Mason shines in "Time" with a drum solo that is cleverly backed by the tick-tock of Roger Waters' muted bass. "Money" contains an instantly recognisable bassline, along with mechanical cash register sounds that ring to the beat of the song.

Session musician Dick Parry contributes an excellent saxophone solo in "Us and Them", and backing vocals are featured throughout to create ethereal sounds. Clare Torry's breathtaking and wordless vocals in "The Great Gig in the Sky" are another highlight, which she astonishingly recorded in a single take.  The lyrics deal with themes of social conflict and mental illness.

In the anthemic "Money", Waters also denounces consumerism and greed. But it is the instrumentation that takes protagonism, and the words often get lost in the dense musical landscapes and waves of studio effects. This landmark release constitutes essential listening for any music fan and is easily adored.
