LPHM 108 MONO INTERNATIONAL POLYDOR PRODUCTION
AUSTRALIAN FIRST PRESSING
Here it is! An incredibly clean and virtually unmarked copy of an impossible to find record, Pip Proud's 1968 debut album Adreneline and Richard. This is the Mono first pressing, not a reissue. The record is in fantastic shape, having only had one owner since it was purchased new - I am selling it on his behalf. Having owned it all that time (nearly 50 years!) you might assume the record would be well-worn after regular playing, but in fact it is not. It's single owner since new bought it because (and this is the best part) he thought it was SO BAD. Apparently, he and his friends used to play it at parties and laugh their ears off. The sweet irony here is that now, many years hence, this album is acknowledged widely as an Outsider Psych-Folk masterpiece. Druggy, bizarre and seemingly formless songs which offer a strange window into a unique musical mind. Proud's two records for Polydor were both released before other, more well-known psych-outs like Syd Barrett's Madcap Laughs or Skip Spence's Oar. Pressed in very small quantities, this Australian landmark album is offered to you now in near-impossible to find condition. No spindle marks, the labels are clean and clear. The record shows only very minor scuffing from the paper inner, so it is a VG+. I am remaining cautious in this grading, but I would be very surprised if a copy in superior condition has emerged on the market in the last few years - the vinyl is glossy and has been played probably less than twenty times in its lifetime. The cover is superb, showing the tiniest shadows of ringwear front and back. There are a few small marks on the back cover, most likely easily removed. What I presume is the original price (in pencil) of $5.75 is near the catalog number on the back and could be easily erased. Please refer to the photos. The two colour bifold lyric sheet is included, and is in perfect condition. All in all, a seriously nice copy of this unattainable psych-folk grail.
I have bought records online for many years and know what people can reasonably expect in terms of packing and shipping. The record will be sent in a heavyweight mailer, removed from its cover and safely housed between multiple layers of unbending packaging. It will ONLY be sent insured and signature required. Local pick up is of course an option if you reside in the Melbourne area. I will happily send internationally, but please contact me regarding postage costs.
Please read my description carefully and look at the photos closely. I am happy to answer any questions regarding the record.
