Direct from the original Columbia/Tower Records metal masters...the first two Pink Floyd albums issued in 1967 and 1968... PHENOMENAL sound ... 44 years ago RARE Dutch issue!

RECORD ONE:

Piper At The Gates Of Dawn ...One cannot deny the wizardry of Syd Barrett on Piper...Sure the album is psycho popsike meshed with spacerock and maybe you needed to be around at the time to truly appreciate this genre of music. The progressive heads may prefer the spacier tracks like ' Astronomy Domine' and ' Interstellar Overdrive' and the direction the band took after Barrett's departure but ' See Emily Play' you just can't help loving it and admiring Barrett's eccentricities not to mention acid infused creative flashes.

Side One:
See Emily Play (2:53)
Pow.R Toc.H (4:26)
Take Up Thy Stethoscope and Walk (3:05)
Lucifer Sam (3:07)
Matilda Mother (3:08)

Side Two:
The Scarecrow (2:11)
The Gnome (2:13)
Chapter 24 (3:42)
Intersteller Overdrive (9:41)

RECORD TWO:

A Saucer Full Of Secrets ...Pink Floyd's 1968 second album is basically the same line of its predecessor. Comparatively, we have psychedelic arrangements as well but a little more diluted in favour of melody. Spacey motives have been almost reduced to the creepy title track which, by the way, is the album's finest: it has 3 parts; the first starts with a ominous crescendo noise (sounding like a ship coming our way), followed by twinkling objects by wind giving a sensation of loneliness and fear, psycho strong piano, strange sounds exploring stereo. Sudden they vanished and the second part brings a crescendo drumming leading to more terrifying sounds. The ending part is quite different, with melancholic slow church organ playing followed by serene infectious chorus.

Other highlights include the tracks until the title track, the main riffs and melodies of Let There be More Light and Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun, this last with some spacey creativity as well; and the sad nostalgia of Remember a Day. These and the title track song have constituted very influential songs over the next decades. The other tracks are basically pleasant songs, which show more again (like in the debut album) strong popsike influence.

Let there be more light (5:38)
Remember a day (4:33)
Set the controls for the heart of the sun (5:28)
Corporal Clegg (4:12)
A saucerful of secrets (11:57)
See-saw (4:36)
Jugband blues (2:59)
