FANTASY parts I & II ... 7-inch, 33rpm single by PI-R-SQUARE production by LONNIE HEWITT. Original US private pressing on WEE label (1009), from 1970s. Unusual and absolutely killer fender rhodes jazz funk with a deeply strung-out, psychedelic sound. Stoned rhythms by a local San Francisco / Bay area outfit, led by cult keyboard player and Wee Records label owner, Lonnie Hewitt. FANTASY is a confirmed masterpiece with funk collectors that fuses counter-culture hippie rock with outsider electric jazz and afro-centric latin flavours of the period. Trippy waves of fender rhodes by Lonnie Hewitt / mind bending fuzz and wah wah distortions / funky broken-beat drum patterns / obsessive basslines and lazy, super-sleazy congas ;) Part 2 is pure drugs and takes the spiritual mood of this underground theme, to the next level. Great for DJs looking for something different. Unique music. 9min of hallucinogenic rare groove split over 2 sides of a 33rpm 7inch. Should also appeal to fans of Strata East / Tribe label / Stark Reality / Alessandroni et al. Inspired re-press by Jazzman back in the day, but no match for the vintage OG. Our soundclip opens with FANTASY Part 2 followed by the stripped back funkiness of Part 1. Best fuzz guitars on ebay right now ;) We bought this copy (and another to file) years ago too. Rare 45!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG  indie independent hewitt

Vinyl is closer to shiny VG++ condition overall, regardless of any faint hairlines / scuffs (as mostly to the Part 1 side). Light surface noises. A few soft pops / soft ticks (as you can hear on our soundclip). Loud production sound. Record will be housed in a soft card white sleeve with brand new poly lined inner. Rare 45!!!
