By far the RAREST of PJ Harvey's LPs, 'Dance Hall' was the follow up to the critically and commercially successful LP 'To Bring You My Love.' Going off on a tangent from that LP, long time collaborator John Parish wrote the music with Harvey contributing the dark, intense lyrics. Much more experimental and uncommercial than almost anything Harvey has done, the LP sold poorly despite being an artistic zenith in both artists' careers.

The music on this LP is stark, bold and unsettling. At times quite brutal, with fuzz bass and Harvey's slithering vocals dancing around eachother and at others emotionally bare (see the great cover of 'Is That All There Is?') this LP was a twisted journey into some hinterland of the soul. As such it sold hardly anything at the time and much, much less on VINYL. At the time Vinyl pressings were on the downturn: the amount of copies this would have sold on vinyl would have been very, very little for an artist of Harvey's popularity. Copies frequently go for triple figures, but I'm starting this copy LOW (as with ALL my listings) and with NO RESERVE (ditto.) This is a GORGEOUS copy of this RARE OUT OF PRINTLP!!!

CONDITION OF VINYL: EXCELLENT. A STRONG Excellent here. The vinyl surface is shiny and reflective, with a lovely gloss you get from a NEW record. The grooves are largely un-interupted, with the sound reproduction being very clear and deep when it needs to be. There are two light surface scuffs on track 8 which do not sound, and are only visible under strong light. There are NO other signs that this LP has been played at all! The run in and run off is VERY smooth, and there is hardly any surface noise between tracks: this plays like a NEW record on my deck, and looks it too!!

CONDITION OF SLEEVE/INNERS: EXCELLENT. The sleeve, as you can see from the photographs, is in lovely shape also. The spine is perfectly straight and legible, and there is no creasing any where. There is some very minor rubbing along the edges of the unlaminated spine, but this pretty slight and doesn't show very much in natural light (see photos.) The INNER is stone cold MINT (except I can't call it mint because it's been opened.. you know what I mean.) THIS IS A STUNNING COPY OF THIS SUPER RARE LP!!! YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

I am an avid collector of many, many genres and keep my records in IMMACULATE condition. I grade according to the Record Collector Price Guide 'Ready Reckoner' and almost NEVER sell anything which is below EXCELLENT condition. Rest assured that my EXCELLENT is bloody EXCELLENT! Oh yeah and I NEVER GRADE ANYTHING MINT THAT IS NOT SEALED!! Near Mint is the highest grading I use for unsealed records.

All records will be sent within two days MAXIMUM of receipt of payment (usually within 4/5 hours of payment received). Your record will be expertly packed in a professional brown mailer, using one or two stiffeners and housed in a PVC 12" sleeve with the record in a paper inner placed outside the sleeve as is standard practice. I've always been lucky when buying records from ebay (save the odd occasion) and would like all buyers of my records to be 100% SATISFIED!
