Direct from the producer of the "Resurrection" label (from 30 years ago!) manufacturer of the earliest reissue pressings of 60's garage 'monsters' ...

This listing includes the following items, mastered by the pressing plant from some 30 years ago:

  •  7 1/2 ips REEL TO REEL TAPE ("studio" produced)
  •  METAL STAMPER for sides "A" & "B"
  •  TWO (14-inch) ACETATES for sides "A" & "B"

P.J. Orion & The Magnates are a teen-scene garage Garage band formed in 1966 by Jeremiah Milbank III (lead guitar, vocals), Aristedes George Embiricos (bass guitar), Peter John Goulandris (rhythm guitar, lead vocals) and Peter Nicholas Goulandris (drums).

The band members belonged to wealthy Greek shipping families (hence Magnates) and were students at the Groton prep school in Massachusetts. Of the numerous so-called prep Rock Garage albums to be released on small or private labels by prep school students in the mid-'60s, the self-titled one by P.J. Orion & The Magnates, recorded in New York City, is among the better ones.

The self-titled album consists entirely of British Invasion and folk-rock gems, all done rawly but competently in folk-rock-heavy garage format...This prep school album is different from other garage group  one off's because this band go for the folk rock/garage sound in a big way. Even their takes on British Invasion tunes like 'As Tears Go By', 'We Gotta Get Out Of This Place' and EVEN 'Gloria' have got electric reverb guitar dominated folk rock jangle all over them instead of the English beat sound. This is perhaps why we love this album so much. Every cut is raw garage but The Magnates add their own special ingredient into the mix of every track.

  • As Tears Go By
  • We Gotta Get Out Of This Place
  • Eve Of Destruction
  • Under The Boardwalk
  • Sheila
  •
  • Side Two:
