PLAS JOHNSON

SIDE A:     LA PANTERA ROSA

                  (Pink Panther)

SIDE B:     SERIA MEJOR DE NOCHE

                  (It Had Better Be Tonight)

MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original Capitol Records very first High Fidelity Mono press released by Capitol Records, made and distributed in Chile in 1964 by Industrias Eléctricas y Musicales Odeon S.A. (Odeon Records Chile), catalog number F 5147, with machine etched matrix numbers VD45-51603-1 N1 (“N” inverted) in Side A and VD45-51604-1 N1 (“N” inverted) in Side B, with traditional green/silver Capitol Records labels, with big “Capitol” at top and 4-prong push-out center. Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER GREAT FIND FROM CHILE for all fans, lovers and collectors of Plas Johnson and Henry Mancini!!!

“Pink Panther” was originally released in USA in February 1964 and the same year we got this single released here in Chile. Song titles are written in Spanish, translated to English, with full credits for songwriters and information about the movie “The Pink Panther”, with play time of each side. So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE PRESS of this single by Plas Johnson And His Orchestra, with one of the most famous instrumental songs ever, the theme of the movie “The Pink Panther”, with Spanish-written song titles and green Capitol Records labels, a record almost never seen in this very first Chilean press!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

This single doesn’t come with a cover. Record is in VG or VG+ condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many scuffs, light hairlines and soft scratches, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in great EX or EX+ condition both sides, clear and clean, with only some spindle hole wear and minimal tears, which don’t affect the clean look both labels keep. The sound is in strong VG or VG+ condition the Side A, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (background noise was normal in records from Chile), with constant soft crackles and regular light clicks, and in EX or EX+ condition the Side B, with occasional soft crackles here and there, which of course don’t cause major distraction from the loud and clear sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, a MEGARARE record with GREEN CAPITOL RECORDS LABELS and Spanish-written song titles, maybe not for the strictest Minty minds and audiophiles, but still in a great condition, with still a nice glossy look, almost immaculate labels and great sound quality after about 59 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the level of rarity of this Chilean single almost never seen!!! And, yes Sirs, WHAT A FIND AGAIN!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

_____________________________________________

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
