Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. RARE 1972 LAMINATED DUTCH ORIGINAL

DUTCH PROGRESSIVE ROCK

. PARTS .

HOLLAND - HARVEST RECORDS - 5C 056 24 551

RAREST (by far)... and arguably one of the two best BRAINBOX albums ... this is the seldom seen Original 1972 first pressing with laminated cover ... surprisingly strong mix of progressive rock with energetic organ/guitar passages ...

BRAINBOX released three albums before getting buried in the onslaught of prog & psych bands that came out of the woodwork in masses during the early '70s ....

Part of a vibrant Amsterdam underground music scene in the late sixties with their harder edged blend of psychedelic rock and Chicago blues, Dutch band BRAINBOX paid homage to both American and British Contemporaries while at the same time developing their own more progressive brand of pop music.

BRAINBOX was formed in 1968 shortly after guitarist Jan Akkerman and drummer Pierre van der Linden joined 19 year-old singing prodigy Kazmierz " Kaz " Lux ...While Lux`s emotive voicings sounded similar to contemporary blues rocker counterparts from the UK such as Rory Gallager (actually from The Republic of Ireland ), when fused with Akkermans`s immaginative guitar the result was a blistering meltdown of emotive blues and heavy rock with jazz attitudes...IN 1969 BRAINBOX released their first album to fan & critical praise...but later in the year whiz guitarist Jan Akkerman left to form FOCUS and by the end of `69 becoming one of the first internationally acclaimed rock bands to emanate from the Netherlands, was FOCUS. The remnants of Brainbox forged on with new musicians. The void left by Akkerman proved difficult to fill, but brilliantly filled it was with guitarist Ronnie Meyers being bought in with new members guitarist John Schuursma along with Frans Smit on drums joining Lux and Reynen. A number of singles were recorded with this lineup in 1970 which also appeared on an album which was oddly entitled "The Best Of BRAINBOX" released the following year which also contained tracks previously released with Akkerman and Van der Linden. The band continued to shift members throughout 1971 and with Lux departing to follow a solo path it eventually morphed into a completely new band with vocalist Michel van Dijk on vocals and flute, Ronnie Meyes on guitar, Robert Verwey on bass with Frans Smit returning on drums. An album was released in early 1972 by this lineup entitled "Parts" finding the band moving in a strong progressive-rock direction.

Overshadowed by the potency of the art/rock movement which was gaining momentum at the time BRAINBOX was dissolved shortly after the release of "Parts" and unfortunately the album has yet to see a release on Compact Disc and as well, there is no Lp reissue. So this is the only way one will ever get to know, BRAINBOX "PARTS"

Michel van Dijk = Vocals, flute

Robert Verwey = Bass guitar, piano, organ

Ronnie Meyes = Guitar, mouthorgan

Frans Smit = Drums
