A performance of poetry and jazz by the Michael Garrick Sextet (Michael Garrick: piano; Don Rendell: reeds; Ian Carr: horns; Art Themen: reeds; Dave Green: bass; Trevor Tomkins: drums), recorded live at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London on the 22nd JUNE 1969 and featuring contributions from Danny ABSE; Thomas BLACKBURN; Douglas HILL; Laurie LEE; Spike MILLIGAN; Jeremy ROBSON; Vernon SCANNELL and John SMITH;
English Decca cut and pressed, blue Argo labels with oval Argo logo
CONDITION: DISCS are mint minus: nothing wrong but there are a few hairline marks visible only under very strong Halogen light from where the discs have been taken out of their sleeves several times. The discs appear to have heen handled with extreme care; BOX is in near mint minus condition also: there is very very slight evidence of wear to the bottom edge but this is hardly noticeable as well as a two inch split to the seam to the rear left edge; INSERT booklet is in mint condition
This item is incredibly rare and combines otherwise unavailable recordings by the Michael Garrick ensemble (featuring some of the leading players from the UK jazz scene at the time) with a selection of British poets at a live public concert wich took place in 1969 on London's South Bank and recorded by Decca. This set has never been reissued and is extremely uncommon.
