THE PORTSMOUTH SINFONIA PLAYS THE POPULAR CLASSICS

Extremely rare LP comprising bumbling, out-of-tune performances by this legendary orchestra comprising musicians who are somewhat less than proficient on their chosen instruments. Brian Eno appears as one of several clarinetists, Gavin Bryars plays the cello, and I'm sure there are some other luminaries on here as well. Released in 1974 by Columbia Records, USA. TRACKS: From Peer Gynt Suite No. 1: "Morning" (Grieg); From Peer Gynt Suite No. 1: "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" (Grieg); From The Nutcracker Suite: "Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy" (Tchaïkovsky); The Nutcracker Suite: "Waltz Of The Flowers" (Tchaïkovsky); Fifth Symphony In C Minor, Op. 67 (Beethoven); William Tell Overture (Rossini); Also Sprach Zarathustra Op. 31 (R. Strauss); Blue Danube Waltz Op. 314 (J. Strauss); "Air" From Suite No. 3 In D Major (Bach); "Farandole" From L'Arlesienne Suite No. 2 (Bizet); "Jupiter" From The Planets, Op. 32 (Holst) CONDITION: The cover shows moderate to heavy wear, creasing, bumping, and chipping at edges and corners, and moderate ringwear and rubbing elsewhere. The disc shows some scuffing and other marks; it plays with no skips and negligible to moderate surface noise. Low minimum bid reflects condition of cover and disc.

U.S. SHIPPING INFO: I ship all records in a sturdy padded mailer via USPS media mail with delivery confirmation. This costs $4.00 for up to three records, and usually takes 3 to 10 days to arrive (note, however, that it can take longer). Priority mail or USPS overnight service is available on request. INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING INFO: Airmail shipping for a single album is $7.50 to Canada, and $13.50 to everywhere else. (Albums that are especially heavy, or include booklets, may cost more.) I’m happy to combine shipping for multiple wins, based on actual package weight.

I pack all records carefully, and shipped them in a very sturdy cardboard mailer with two protective inserts; these mailers cost me $1.50 each, and this amount is included in the price above.
