Description

PRE-DOG VICTOR MONARCH – ELDRIDGE R. JOHNSON RECORD
“Lorlei by Kendle’s First Regt Band” #3189

RECORD DESCRIPTION: Pictured is a very early (late 1890s) one-sided 10” Pre-Dog Victor Monarch / Eldridge R. Johnson record entitled, “Lorelei,” #3189 by Kendle’s First Regt Band released March 28, 1901. The first image is an 800dpi scan so you can get a good look. The second image is a full view of the record photographed. You can hear “Lorelei” in the Library of Congress playbox imbedded below. I would rate this record as a solid VG for its age as there are no chips or cracks and the grooves look good but with some wear. Pre-dog Victor records are disappearing so this is your chance to get one in very nice condition. If you win, please wait for my invoice, do not pay the first “Pay Now” invoice generated by eBay. Otherwise, you may be making two PayPal payments instead of one or paying inaccurate shipping costs. Although eBay requires an estimated shipping rate, buyer pays only actual insured shipping to their destination. Items are shipped within 5 days after payment is received. Records will ship priority mail which is safer and quicker than media mail. Thanks for looking and good luck with your bid.

RECORD GRADING:

There are many record grading systems all of which are somewhat confusing. Grading is always subjective so please take this into account. Record condition and your equipment will have an affect on how well a record sounds. The following four grades (with + or -) are used:

  • M (Mint) A record which appears to be new or as never played. Few signs, if any, of wear or damage. All grooves crisp.
  • VG (Very Good) A record which has had light use with minor inaudible surface scratches and minimal surface noise which does not affect play.
  • G (Good) A record with commonly found surface scratches, groove wear and surface noise which does not seriously affect play. Some dulling of finish but music is free of distortion and clearly above any noise level.
  • F (Fair) A record found in a flea market or garage sale with noticeable surface noise, scratches and groove wear which shows frequent play. Surface has lost its lustre.

SHIPPING:

  • Buyer pays actual shipping (destination, weight & insurance). Shipping costs are subject to adjustment (+ or -) based on the estimate.

  • Upon payment, Buyer assumes responsibility for any and all damage or loss in transit (I will assist you in filing a claim but have no responsibility for reimbursement on behalf of the carrier). You must save photos of damage to the box and the item or the post office will not accept a claim. Insurance is no guarantee that the post office will pay on the claim. Buyer agrees that the sole remedy in the event of any (unlikely) damage (however small), loss or delay caused by shipping is against the carrier. I generally keep pictures of costlier packed items as they are made ready for shipment to avoid potential disputes.

  • Accepted forms of payment are by PayPal, cashiers check or personal check only. Foreign buyers Paypal only.

  • There is a ten-business day clearing period on all checks. Banks treat cashiers checks like a personal check.

  • Insurance is required for your protection and its cost will be added to the shipping cost based on final winning bid price.

  • I reserve the right to refuse to sell to anyone with negative feedback.

  • Please view all photos and please email any question. I do my best to describe the item; however, I am not an expert in all fields and it is always possible to miss something. Descriptions are subjective; therefore, I cannot guarantee your satisfaction.

  • Packing is done carefully. Shipping occurs within 5 days after payment has cleared.

  • Accurate information or corrections from bidders is always welcome. .
  • If this auction is open, or subsequently made open, to international bidders, Overseas buyers pay all costs associated with packing, shipping, handling, forwarding, or other expenses incurred to ship outside the Continental U.S. In addition, if you bid, you are bound by the following rules:
    • Insurance is required on your purchase if possible. Even if insurance is limited or not possible, you are solely responsible for any and all loss or damage in transit and hereby waive any claim using eBay’s resolution center.
    • Winning bidder is responsible for customs duties and taxes.
    • Your winning item will not be marked as a “gift.”
    • Winning bidder pays actual international duty and shipping cost to their country, not the estimate set forth in the listing which is based on U.S. domestic shipment rates. Please note that the U.S. Postal service sets insurance limits for various countries so your item may not be able to be fully insured. There are box size limitations that limit the ability to include adequate protective packing materials. If you bid, you accept and agree to such limitations. Also be aware that the U.S. Postal service cannot accurately track shipments sent priority mail international. They can track Express Priority Mail but the cost is significantly greater. There is also a significant risk of damage (assumed by buyer) to international shipments due to mishandling by freight handlers and forwarders. Assume that international shipments will arrive with some damage. Buyer assumes responsibility for any and all damage or loss in transit (I will assist you in filing a claim but have no responsibility for reimbursement on behalf of the carrier). You must save photos of damage to the box and the item or the post office will not accept a claim. Insurance is no guarantee that the post office will pay on the claim. Buyer agrees that the sole remedy in the event of any damage (however small), loss or delay caused by shipping is against the carrier. Seller has no liability whatsoever for international shipping or handling and buyer waives any damage claims against seller through eBay’s dispute resolution center.
