An excellent funk party all the way through! Preston was Johnny Otis' tenor star in the late 60s -- and this album has him grooving hard with members of Johnny's band, including a young Shuggie Otis, who's really wailing with some acid licks on guitar! The overall feel is very much in the funky 45 mode -- and most cuts are instrumentals, occasionally with a bluesy twist. One number -- "Cool Ade" -- has a hip call-response vocal, and other tracks include "Hoe Cakes & Sorghum", "Cream Dream", "Neck Bones", "Chili Mac", and "Pot Likker"
