PREWAR BLUES LP: THE IMMORTAL CHARLIE PATTON Number 1 OJL 1 with Klatzko booklet

The first Patton reissue album and the first release on Origin Jazz Library (OJL). There were several editions of this LP on OJL. On this early one the cover has thick black cardboard backing with the paper glued on. Patton’s photo is on the front. It includes a reproduced five-page booklet with notes by Bernard Klatzko. The label is white and the numbers in wax are OJL1 A and OJL 1 B. Record is near mint with very slight handling wear. Jacket is VG+ with faint ring wear and some wear on the corners and at the bottom.

See grading codes below.

LPs, EPs and 45s are graded M (mint), NM (near mint), VG+, VG (very good), VG-, G+, G (good), G-, F (fair), and P (poor).

A VG+ record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG and VG- may be deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the G+, G and G- range the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches. Surface noise is as loud as the music on records graded F and louder than the music on P records. P records are likely to be unplayable.

[+ and ? denote in-between grades. Grades with a slash in between indicate the condition of Side A/Side B.]

Jackets graded VG+ have only slight wear; jackets graded VG are more worn but still intact unless defects are noted. G jackets show definite damage and F and P jackets are probably falling apart. Splits, markings, cut corners, and other defects will be noted.
