MINT (M): The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or visible signs of play. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record shows it may have been played, but very very carefully with no visual marks. Sleeve looks as new.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record may have some very slight surface marks. Sleeve may have some very slight wear.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played and may show surface marks/scuffing, or very light scratches that one can feel. Cover has noticeable wear & tear or seam split.
