Description
On this truly charming record, the prolific WILLIAM F. HOOLEY (1861 -1918) sings one of his "Songs for Little Folks," "PRITHEE LITTLE MAID." Instead of the usual droll announcement, he addresses the kiddies directly:
"If you all will be very quiet, Uncle Will will sing to you 'Prithee Little Maid.'"
and then at the end:
"That's all, little ones! You've been real good tonight! Off to bed, little ones! Good night, little dears!"
Introduced in the 1890s, these Emile Berliner "Gramophone" discs are the very first flat records, which, being easily pressed out like waffles, revolutionized the business. Have you ever tried actually to MOLD a cylinder? It's tough!
This original 1899 Berliner Gramophone 1907 is in great playing E- condition.

These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
