Description

Description: This item is a privately recorded 12 inch aluminum base acetate disc that probably was recorded professionally based on the overall excellent fidelity. It is a microgroove LP disc recorded at 33 1/3 rpm with individual tracks.

The disc contains the complete Eddie Condon Floor Show television program of 10 June 1950; probably one of the last shows in the series.

The all star band consists of Wild Bill Davison (cnt), Peanuts Hucko (clt), Cutty Cutshall (tbn), Gene Schroeder (pno), Jack Lesberg (bs), Eddie Condon (gtr) and the amazing Buddy Rich at the drums. Buddy is present on all tracks and is featured in an astounding 3 chorus drum solo on "Sweet Georgia Brown". The music presented throughout is top flight!

Rosemary Clooney is the guest vocalist and she renders a moving treatment of “Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans” which is not the Hoagy Carmichael tune “New Orleans" as listed on the label.

Comedian Carl Reiner is the show narrator and does a few skits as well. Note that the skits are not listed on the labels. That is why you can see more tracks on the disc in the photo than there are on the label.

Also featured is tap dancer Teddy Hale and one of his numbers is a tap dance duet with Buddy Rich.

To the best of my knowledge and after checking various discographies, this particular Floor Show has never been issued on record.

Disc Condition: The disc visually grades VG++ to E- condition with a some surface scuffs and a few light scratches but nothing disruptive.  Some inherent acetate surface noise is audible in spots but not to the detriment of the music. There is no peeling or flaking of the acetate.
