This is my EX / EX UK 1st PRESSING copy of DEEP PURPLE's 4th Album 'IN ROCK'. All the attributes of a FIRST PRESSING are here. And here is the provenance...Me and my mate Mac were members of Mother's club in Birmingham. We had discovered Deep Purple through 'The Book Of Taliesyn' and the follow up 'Deep Purple'. It was announced they were coming to play at Mothers and we grabbed our tickets. We were genuinely not ready for what we saw and heard. I think it was a Sunday Night, you rock historians can most probably date it exactly. We had no information about any changes in the band's line up and in our innocence then would expect non! The band ambled onto the small stage at Mothers. We did not recognise the singer and he wasn't playing the bass? He put his hand across his face and asked that the 'house' stage lights shining in his eyes could be dimmed and I seem to remember he said the group were knackered as they had just driven back from Germany (Historians - was this true?). The band did that tuning thing they did in those days, We hadn't seen Ritchie Blackmore's face yet as he faced his stack. We knew from these sounds that this was going to be loud. Suddenly they were ready and they blasted into 'SPEED KING'. I'm not going to try and explain the effect of what we heard had on our 17 year old ears. But that singer! Wow! The rest of the night I will leave to your imagination! But I have to mention this first time we heard 'Child In Time'...played live! Ian Gillan's voice was like from another world! Next day at school, (to explain - 6th form Grammar), our ears were still ringing and we couldn't quite believe what we had just seen and heard! I ordered this record after school from our local electrical store which had supplied all my records since I first heard The Beatles. Those were the days! GREAT, GREAT ALBUM! PLAY LOUD!
