STILL IN FACTORY CELLOPHANE ... first time EVER seen this long time rarity in FACTORY CELLO! .....................................................................................................................

BLOODY RARE/OBSCURE ~~ ORIGINAL 1969 first pressing, an energetic creative affair designed in the '69 era Chicago Transit Authority and early Blood Sweat & Tears bag, full dynamic punch within the original tunes oozing with emotion....

A lot of people have a deep down liking for the "big band" sound — there's something about a driving horn backing which has been generating excitement since the *golden age*. Gas Mask, an American underground rock group, aspires to the FIRST Chicago TRANSIT AUTHORITY category of music which was wide open for exploitation at any given moment.

The two 'jammer' tracks, composed by leader and arranger David Gross contribute the jazzy side of the record — "The Immigrant" features Enrico Rava blowing his brains out on both muted and straight trumpt, contains a good scope for his improvisation, to the point of being excessive. Ray Brooks provides a nice bass line which is consistently good.
Bobby Osborne is the vocalist on eight tracks which are composed by keyboard man Nick Oliva. For instance, "Light the Road " really moves: a crisp balance between percussion and the arrangements provide a solid backing for the punchy vocals. Osborne's voice is quite variable - "Just Like That", a slow moody number, is The Chicago Transit Authority all over again, even down to the vocal style. -- and it's good listening. An intriguing fast cross-rhythm on "Nothing to do Today" features some tight drumming by James Strassburg coordinating with Brook's winding bass. The track which is probably most typical of the group's sound and ability is "Young Man" — this would give the best indication of the overall quality to the casual listener.

Much of the record is competent, as expected from the session experience which most of the group's members have had delivering flashes of brilliance which overall make the LP worthy of investigation. .
