Description

Ok - this ones a stunner 

Original 1st UK vinyl pressing of the Vertigo Swirl album Valentyne Suite by Colosseum

On Vertigo reference VO1 847 900 VTY

Matrices are 1Y//2Y so absolute first pressing 

Also has the 'A Philips Record Product' text present ONLY on the very first pressings 

Vertigo swirls are collectable any day of the week but this is an early one from a very rare band. 

Grab it while you can 

The record:

Grades as EX.... easily , there are a couple of light surface marks which don't affect the sound but its obvious this has seen little use

Labels are clean and free from writing / marks, theres a little spindle wear if you tilt it in the light.

 

Inner Sleeve is the Vertigo Swirl Poly-lined  - some of the poly is detached on one side but otherwise fine

 

Gatefold outer sleeve is EX+  a little edge wear and some VERY faint ringwear on the back which is barely noticeable. 

Spine is slightly angled but its in great shape and easily readable. Nice thick card material so no creasing.

 

I have test played the album using a technics 1210 with Bose speakers. It plays more like an EX+ ... some light crackle between songs on side 1 is about it.

On side 2 again theres the odd crackle but nothing to worry about 

 Sound quality is top notch

 As for what the band are like - this is psych rock, a guitar and saxophone led band, heavy but with some jazzy leanings in places, nice use of flute sounds a bit like Traffic in parts too 

Wiki shows the band have links to Graham Bond and John Mayall plus they shared the bill with the likes of Led Zeppelin in this era - a bit of a lost gem this one.
