PUBLIC IMAGE LIMITED   METAL BOX:METAL 1

I would say that this is a very good copy of the original Metal Box, containing track listing insert and lyric sheet. The lyric sheet was issued by the NME (New Musical Express) on 24th November 1979, a week or two after the album came out. It comprises 3x 45 rpm 12" discs of  one of John Lydon's first LP's  post-Sex Pistols. Other personnel include bass maestro Jah Wobble and ex-Clash member Keith Levene, Jeannette Lee and Dave Crowe. It came out on Virgin Records in 1979.

VINYL

The 3 discs still retain a nice sheen, though there are various scuffs. There are however no audible scratches hence no repetetive ticks or jumps. (I have listened to it twice today on a Project Debut 3 turntable to make sure.)

LABELS

They are all in good condition with very little spindle wear, no writing or marks.

LYRIC SHEET

The lyric sheet came with the NME and as far as I know was the only official version of the lyrics issued. I have kept it in the tin since the day of purchase so though the paper is not ripped, it has been kept folded.

COVER (METAL TIN)

As with most of the Metal Box covers it has suffered from oxidisation, more so on the front than the back (see photo's). It stll has the "METAL 1" tab on rear cover.

 

Using the Rare Record Price Guide record grading system I would say:

The vinyl (3 discs) are VG+ to listen to and VG visually.

The cover VG.

Labels VG+.

Track list insert VG+

NME lyric sheet VG.
