My eBay name is 'punky_music' and I'm a full-time record dealer since nearly 30 years
Please read the complete story about this metal box, released in 1979. Old eBay prices: £360 + £295 + $431 + $396. Here's your chance to buy the complete set including all the inserts as it was issued on the great 'Virgin' label. I used to work for RICHARD BRANSON, the man behind VIRGIN RECORDS, here in Germany, before I became a full-time record dealer in the 90’s. Issued in an original metal embossed film cannister. All three 12“ records are in superb condition (superclean). The box suffer from corrosion, as do all copies, well, the release is 42 years old. Otherwise it is in excellent condition. Complete with red-colored A5 inlay / insert, plus the white dividers for the records and with the METAL 1 sticker attached to the back of the film cannister. A superb and groundbreaking release which cost the band £35,000, a third of their advance paid back to 'Virgin' Records, to get it released. Before the idea of the metal film cannister was finalised, the band had discussed releasing the album in a sandpaper sleeve which would have resulted in damage to the sleeves of any albums shelved next to it, which would have been a lot cheaper and just as memorable (even if for all the wrong reasons). The tracks included on this superb release for your listening pleasure are: 'Albatross' / 'Memories' / 'Swan Lake' / 'Poptones' / 'Careering' / 'No Birds' / 'Graveyard' / 'The Suit' / 'Bad Baby' / 'Socialist/Chant/Radio 4'. The end of 'Swan Lake' has been put into a closed groove so that the last 10 seconds or so play in a closed groove, so it will play continuously until the needle is lifted from the record. Please do not miss out on this rarity.
