·       RECORD

(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted below, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the normal room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)            WE GRADE THE RECORD AS STRONG VERY GOOD+. CAUTION: The vinyl is NOT MINT or NEAR MINT, but is nevertheless in exceedingly nice and clean condition (we do NOT sell records that, graded visually, appear to be unplayable or otherwise played beyond use). There are a few surface marks and abrasions, mostly light, although some may be longer than 1.1 4 inches (roughly 3 cms).

We could not "feel" these abrasions with our fingertip, and we suspect that these abrasions ARE NOT audible.

(b)            The record has a Rudy "Van Gelder" inscription or his initials (RVG) stamped/etched in the trail-off vinyl. On SOME Jazz labels (Blue Note, Savoy, Prestige, Impulse, Verve…) this stamp signifies highly professional masterings either done by - or personally authorized by - the legendary engineer himself.

(c)             The record is apparently pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the very first pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, exceedingly vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from your compact disc!

(d)            PLEASE NOTE: This - of course - is an ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

(e)             Mono pressing of this title is much rarer, and by far more preferable to its stereo counterpart. The mix is more natural, humane, "organic" and in some instances the mixes may be somewhat different than on the stereo version. We estimate that stereo copies of this album outnumber monos by a ratio of at least 3:1.

·       COVER

THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+(+)

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-         Cover has partially split lower seam (about 1 inch / 2.5 cm)

-         Cover has some fraying/tattering along the upper and lower seam

-         Cover has some light ring wear (nothing significant)

-         A minor water stain affects the area about ¼-inch wide along the opening on the back side; there is no damage to the cover, and both cardboard base and paper slick are intact, however, the yellowish discoloration is visible.

-         Cover has some light "friction" dirt/dust spots, probably from rubbing against other record covers. While we did not want to tinker with the integrity of the cover, these spots can easily be cleaned by the buyer by using a mild cleaner or plain eraser.

-         Cover shows some light yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.

-         Cover has a minor wrinkle in one corner

NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:

-         No cut-out holes

-         No cut-out corners

-         No drill marks or indents

-         No writing

-         No mold or mildew spots

-         No stickers or labels

-         No water damage

-         No razor marks

-         No pressure marks, lines, streaks, or razor cuts.

-         No stamps

-         No warping

-         No glue traces or wax residue.

-         No bar codes

-         No RIAA stamps or stickers.

-         No peel-off marks
