Reluctantly I'm finally making the move to sell my entire record collection.

Thirty years of collecting vinyl is finally taking its toll on my living space. 

I HAVE CHOSEN TO COMMIT MYSELF TO PLAY TESTING ALL MY VINYL. BECAUSE OF THIS MY LISTINGS WILL BE UPGRADED IN BULK RUNS WHEN I HAVE HAD THE TIME TO CHECK THEM ALL. Sleeve

Yet another example of a sleeve that has been very well looked after by a collector. It is a non laminate, flip-back construction with shiny silver embossed lettering. Practically no signs of ageing. There are name handwritten names, no sticker marks or other dirty marks. The corners are all still very sharp, and the sides are all solid with no splits. The top front right corner has an ever so slight crease, and that’s about all. Other than that, I would say that it looks shop fresh. This copy differs from standard copies which usually have the one “First time on vinyl..and it’s YELLOW” . Here we also have the circular “P – Promotional , not for sale” sticker. I’m grading this sleeve as excellent plus.

Inner sleeve

N/A. I will be providing a plain white inner with this for shipping purposes.

Labels

Side one:

Beautiful looking. Clean, white and fresh. No names or sticker marks. It grades an easy excellent plus.

Side two:

As with side one. The labels both look almost to be factory fresh. Another grade of excellent plus.

Side one audio grade

Right, I’m going to be writing notes here as I listen to both sides straight through. It is my goal to be as accurate as possible. So we have a pretty quiet lead in during the silent start. No background during the start of the track. I’ll mention that this side has a great loud mix. No pops, clicks or signs of being overplayed. I’m giving this side an audio grade of excellent plus.

Side one visual grade

If any marks show up during playback I would have mentioned them above in the audio grading. I’m struggling to see any marks on this side. No hard scratches have I noticed, and just literally just a couple of small fine surface marks can be seen under close light. I’m going to grade this as excellent.

Side two audio grade

Ok. Let’s go. Again, we have a good loud mix. Some mild crackle in the silent lead in. The track generally has clear audio throughout, some very mild crackle in quieter moments, nothing overwhelming though, pretty normal. I hear two little pops just before the last verse builds up. An enjoyable listen, and I’m grading it as very good.

Side two visual grade

If any marks show up during playback I would have mentioned them above in the audio grading. Much as side one really. No bad scratches, and just a couple fo fine hairline marks. Very good looking indeed. I grade this as excellent.

POINT TO NOTE: Taking a close look whilst it is spinning on the turntable I see that there is a very slight wave to the vinyl. Not altogether uncommon for coloured vinyl or picture discs. It is in no way a seriously buckled disc. I am just noting this for total accuracy. It does not affect the audio in any way at all.

Final thoughts

A nice sounding disc, with a loud mix. The cover is in great shape, with the added bonus of being a promo.

GRADING

I use the U.K Rare Record Guide grading system detailed below.

MINT The LP or single is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT The LP or single shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD The LP or single has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and an occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover and contents without any major defects.

GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

POSTAGE

All records come with a protective poly sleeve, and new white inner. Records are shipped outside of the sleeve within reinforced cardboard packaging to ensure safety during transit.
