From their very beginning, as a gospel singing quartet, the Palmetto State Quartet has maintained an unusual popularity in the gospel field.- Featured regularly for many years on ’’Bob Poole’s Gospel Favorites”, a syndicated television program shown over many of the nation’s large cities,- the Pal- metto State Quartet has become a favorite of both young and old. That’s why they are known as The Quartet Of Today. Jerry Hovis, Butch Surratt, Rod Bright, Ron Bright, and Phil Ross, their pianist, have bridged the generation gap and are the favorites of young and old who attend the gospel singings across the country. They sing it like it is and give a song every thing they’ve got. Although the fellows are young, they’re ole pros when it comes to gospel singing, as each one got their start at an early age, and it’s a part of their lives. With rich, spirit-blessed voices, the Palmetto State Quartet has the God-given talent to bring a message from each song they sing. They are introducing a song in this album that I had the privilege of helping write with my great friend Raymond Waldrop, ’’THERE IS A MANSION". This song alone is worth more than the price you’ll pay for this album. Just to hear the Palmetto State Quartet sing from the bottom of their hearts about mansions that are waiting for all of God’s children at the end of life’s journey is worth all of this world’s goods.
