Description
Here is one of the rarest worldwide solo Beatles related releases--the Turkish Apple version of Paul McCartney's 1970 "McCartney" LP (catalog MOCT-4).
This LP was released in the aftermath of the breakup of the Beatles and for whatever reason, someone assembling the LP in Turkey decided--possibly as a joke or commentary on the Beatles' breakup--to use one of Linda McCartney's interior photos from the UK pressing with Paul picking his nose as the front cover for this release. It is the only official alternate cover of this LP released anywhere in the world and was never repressed with this cover (for obvious reasons).
Unlike the jacket construction in most other countries, these Turkish record covers were constructed of very thin, fibery paper that wrapped the album like a folio. Whoever originally owned this one decided to tape the top and bottom seams so the LP would stay inside. The tape as since been removed but it left crystalline glue residue across the top, bottom and side seams. The cover also has significant wear, staining/dirt and creasing. It ain't perfect...but tell me if you've EVER seen a copy of this in any condition anywhere.
The LP itself is in VG- to strong VG condition with lots of light marks but no deep scratches. The b-side label is clean with a unique yellowish-tinted, sliced Apple graphic. The a-side label has some wear around the play hole and a name and date written on the front which I assume is from the original owner who bought this album in 1972. It has a small gold sticker included which fell off the cover with "Opera Plakevi" which translates to "Opera Record Store" and "Rumeli Cad 40 Osmanbey" which I believe is the address of the store where this was purchased in Osmanbey, Istanbul, Turkey.
This item will be packed well and placed in a Japanese resealable sleeve. Fast shipping from a trustworthy seller that has been on Ebay since 1999 with perfect feedback.
