Description
RARE/Hard-to-find (at least in this kind of condition) late 70’s French yellow vinyl pressing of Paul McCartney and the Wings ‘Band on the Run’ L.P. (Pathe Marconi DC9). I believe this is one of a number of legitimate special edition French coloured vinyl pressings of seminal albums. I assume that the catalogue reference ‘DC’ refers to ‘Disque en Couleur’ (note the large sticker on the front sleeve). This copy still retains its shrink-rap and is in beautiful condition. The poster, which was a feature of the U.K. issue, is also present. This copy has evidently not sustained heavy play (more condition details below).

The bottom right-hand corner has received some light water damage. It isn’t obvious unless you look for it and the only reason I noticed it is because a corner of the inner sleeve and the poster have also got watermarks on them. The corners have all received light knocks and the opening edge is slightly frayed however, I would say that the quality of the cardboard isn’t great (flimsier than the U.K. equivalent and the EMI sleeves weren’t great). Essentially, the sleeve has been protected by the shrink-wrap. It really does look quite respectable. You can tell this copy hasn’t been played much as it is clear the inner sleeve hasn’t been handled much. It is fully intact and the vinyl hasn’t made a break for it (i.e hasn’t worn through any sides as is often the case). Aside from the water damage mentioned earlier the poster is in great condition. The sleeve, inner sleeve and poster are graded as being in EXCELLENT condition.
Vinyl
It is very difficult to grade transparent yellow vinyl such as this. I have graded under an intense light and I am confident in an EXCELLENT+ grading. Some light hairline scratches are just visible under an intense light but you really need to look for them. This copy has been played (I am certain of that as there are light hairline scratches on the playing surface which result from the removal of the vinyl from the inner sleeve). Conversely, there is no indication of spindle-wear or even evidence that a spindle has been near the labels. This is a lovely copy that will be difficult to better!
Concluding Remarks
It is hard enough finding a copy of this let alone a respectable one. Please check my other auctions for further vintage LPs in stunning condition!
