Paul McCartney - Wings.  LIVE AND LET DIE (Apple 1863 – 1973). Near MINT 45 of undoubtedly the most famous James Bond theme ever. For the eighth film in the legendary series, producer Albert R. Broccoli wanted John Barry to continue as composer but he was unavailable. This opened the door for Sir Paul. However, the price tag was a tad high, so Broccoli was left with George Martin. Not a bad choice considering he majestically arranged and orchestrated most of The Beatles’ music. Still, McCartney was brought in to write the theme song, which he did with then-wife and Wings band mate, Linda. At the time, it was considered to be the first true rock n’ roll song to open a Bond film. It peaked at #2 on the U.S. charts where it held steady for three weeks but could not overtake Maureen McGovern (“The Morning After”-from the film “The Poseidon Adventure”), Diana Ross (“Touch Me in the Morning”) and Stories (“Brother Louie”). No worries, his prior hit “My Love” held the Number One spot for almost a month. Throw in Roger Moore in his first role as 007, and you had quite the scintillating combination of creative forces.
