This listing is for one of the original pressings of Sir Paul's 16th solo album "New". There has only been one pressing of the album which served all the major markets including US, UK and Europe, which I believe was due to this release being partly funded by Paul himself. Determined to prove to the music industry and critics that he was still current this is one of his most creative and different sounding albums he's made. Featuring 4 producers including pop maestro Mark Ronson and Giles Martin son of legendary Beatles producer George.
Although not a massive commercial success it received good critical acclaim and caused Capitol Records to re-sign him for his up and coming 17th album due in 2018.
Being a big Beatles and Mccartney fan I am quite biased but I think this is a great album with a great mix of contemporary and classic alike, if you are a fan of either I urge you to give it a try you may be surprised.
This album is receiving a re-issue soon so original copies like this will become harder to come by and in time a very sought after item.
All of my records are play tested on a Project Debut Carbon with 2M Red stylus which is quite revealing so any sound defects may be more exaggerated than on other more mainstream players. Or conversely if you are a full on audiophile I will let you judge how your set up compares and how you envisage the sound will compare.
I don't currently have access to a cleaning machine so please forgive any dust or finger marks which are on any of my records - hopefully will be investing in one at some point.
Record Appearance - VG+ There are only a few marks and paper scuffs from use but no deep scratches or defects, and certainly nothing that affects play. It has obviously been used more than my personal copy and rightly so a great album. On side 1 there is a light finger scuff but I have played the tracks a few times and definitely not audible.
Record Sound - NM Very little if any surface noise on run in and in between tracks. There is a little dust so would probably benefit from a good machine clean but I don't have access to one unfortunately and I don't like to hand clean records I am selling. The sound quality is amazing as with most Mccartney vinyl releases, deep rich sound which you will want to just keep turning up. Pressed on top quality 180g vinyl this is what modern pressings should sound like but sadly often don't.
Record Sleeve - VG+ Overall in great condition and very close to Near Mint. The top left corner has been squashed a little at some point leaving a crease but the rest of the edges and spine are superb and no other defects. There a couple of creases coming from the edge visible on the rear cover but this is probably from poor handling by the original dealer which I would guess would be the UK store with 3 letters as I have bought new issues from there before with this kind of mis-handling. Record is stored in a nice picture sleeve and also comes with a stunning booklet with artwork and pictures and details of how and why the record was made. All of these items are in great condition. The only thing missing is the download card of the album, but why would you want that haha.
