Description

Prestige 7103, “On the Sunny Side” with Paul Quinichette, tenor sax; Curtis Fuller, trombone; Mal Waldron, piano; Doug Watkins, bass; Ed Thigpen, drums; John Jenkins and Red Kyner, alto sax; from 1956.  Original W. 50th St. vinyl has many superficial marks and plays at VG+ with some background static, but it’s fairly minimal; it could be ignored at a distance.  One thing to note is that there is a single jump in the middle of “Cool-lypso” that could be fixed with greater tonearm weight. The heavy laminated jacket has solid seams all around; there is minor wear on three corners; there is a half-inch (1.5 cm) of paper loss on the upper spine near the top; the jacket is clean but has age toning, which is common to LPs in the Prestige 7000-7100 series.  Overall, this is a decent copy of this classic bop-era LP, as long as one jump doesn’t bother you.  Numbers are “Blue Dots”, “On the Sunny Side of the Street”, “Circles”, and “Cool-ypso”.  Shipping is $4.00 media mail, $8.00 priority mail within the continental U.S.; $18.00 regular airmail to the U.K., Europe, Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.  Additional LPs in a single package are $1.00 additional within U.S. and Canada, $2.00 elsewhere. For overseas shipments, registered mail is strongly recommended at $12.00 extra. Many old records are practically antiques and should be treated that way. This LP will be packaged with the record inside an inner sleeve but outside the jacket; both are placed inside a sealed outer sleeve and shipped inside a special oversized handcrafted mailer with padding on all sides. It is designed thick enough not to be bent in transit and strong enough to withstand a drop from a second-story window. More than two LPs together may be mailed inside a heavy Bags Unlimited pizza-style box. Your LP should arrive in the same condition as on the day it was shipped. All used LPs are play-graded on a VPI turntable with Audioquest tonearm and Grado cartridge.
