Description
Vanguard VRS-1098 is, according to the Canfield Guide, "one of the rarest and most desirable of of all classical LPs. [Valued at $450.] Suppressed before issue -- only a handful exist." Percy Grainger, Grieg's favorite interpreter, plays the Grieg Piano Concerto in A minor, with orchestra conducted by Per Drier in a live performance in Denmark on February 25, 1957. Grainger's flawed performance was the likely reason for the withdrawal of the record; thus, this record is highly-valued more for its extreme rarity rather than its musical value. Side 2 is from that same concert and features Grainger playing his own compositions: Country Gardens, Ramble on Love, Suite on Danish Folk Songs for Orchestra and Piano.

Grading:
NM Near Mint. Vinyl has rarely been played, is clean and shiny. It may have light scuffs and marks from handling and re-sleeving. Cover is shiny and may have light creasing or fading of color.
VG++ Very good. May have light scratches, scuffs and/or wear. Few minor audible crackles but sounds nice. Cover may have writing, small tear, split seams which may be taped.
VG+ Middle range. Vinyl has obvious scratches or marks that produce crackle. Cover has heavy ring wear, long split seams/tape, stains, water ripple.
