The Persuasions - Acapella (Straight RS 6394), 1970. White Label Promo. Autographed by Frank Zappa.
Everybody's favorite RnB/DooWop A Capella group (certainly Frank Zappa's favorite), The Persuasions. Zappa loved these guys and signed them to his Straight label in 1969, releasing this record in '70. Throughout his career, he used their vocal talents on numerous occasions. This copy just happens to have Zappa's AUTOGRAPH on the front cover. In fact, I believe he signed this twice. At first glance, it appears that he has signed it "F Zappa 72" but, in reality, I believe the 72 is actually FZ. I've seen him autograph many, many items over the years with ONLY the "FZ" mark and it looks exactly like the one here. I could imagine that whoever got this signed may have pestered Frank to "elaborate" more so that people would know it was really he who signed the record cover so Frank may have "expanded" his signature. Eh, sounds plausible. There is no Certificate of Authenticity for this autograph but, believe me, it's genuine. I've seen plenty of Zappa autographs over the years and this is the real deal.

CONDITION: Record is VG+. Cover is VG- with considerable storage wear and a piece of masking tape on the back cover with names written on it. Nonetheless, a fine piece to own for the autograph alone. And did I mention that it's a WHITE LABEL PROMO? Oh, yeah. I did.
