Description
This is a rare, late-1970s five-LP box set on Spector's own Phil Spector International label, distributed in the UK via Polydor. It contains five mint-condition records. All are compilations of Spector's early-Sixties recordings: Vol.1 The Ronettes (stereo, twelve tracks including Be My Baby, Walking In The Rain, Baby I Love You, Chapel Of Love and So Young) Vol.2 Bob B. Soxx And The Blue Jeans (mono, twelve tracks including Zip-A-Dee Doo Dah) Vol.3 The Crystals (stereo, sixteen tracks including He's A Rebel, Then He Kissed Me, He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss) and Da Doo Ron Ron Vol. 4 Yesterday's Hits Today (mono, fourteen hit tracks including Darlene Love, The Ronettes, The Crystals and The Alley Cats) Vol.5 Rare Masters (mono, fourteen rare tracks including Veronica, April Stevens, Bonnie & The Treasures, The Phil Spector Wall Of Sound Orchestra, The Ronettes, Darlene Love and The Crystals) Also included is a four-page booklet/interview with Spector, with a dramatic shot of Spector pointing a pistol at the camera on the front. All records, inner sleeves and outer sleeves are in mint condition, never having been played or taken out of the box (except to photograph them for this auction). The box itself has picked up some medium shelf wear but no major splits or defects. Overall condition is between Excellent and Mint.
*Oversize box sets are mailed out protected with several layers of bubblewrap (with more bubblewrap inside, to stop records moving around) and finished in brown parcel paper
