Pink Floyd 1967 LP A Saucerful of Secrets First Pressing VG++ Vinyl

I usually get the most requests to test-play white label promos.  I have a friend who lets me do that at his convenience, and so I did play this, the Dylan WLP and The Who WLP LPs.  Reports are on each respective auction.

LP plays back with a pretty normal amount of surface noise for a Tower pressing.  Being Capitol’s subsidiary label, they weren’t pressed with quite as high quality of vinyl stock, which lends itself to surface noise.  Light static tics are heard in quiet passages, as well as in the silent bands.  However, a D4 cleaning will likely address this very nicely. Tower’s signature vinyl “whoosh” on the lead-in lip is present.  I actually like that sound.

Vinyl--- VG++ both sides with the exceptions of a couple very light wisp hairlines on each side.

Plates--- B2/ B2.  Very early plates. Tower, being a subsidiary of Capitol Records, bears Capitol markings. Has the machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside, making this copy pressed on the east coast in Scranton, PA.

Cover--- VG. Tower LP’s were not given the royal treatment by Capitol.  Their covers were constructed of inferior cardboard that had been over-recycled.  Top seam is split all the way across. Bottom seam is split just about halfway.  Spine has crackled slick.  Front and back covers have light to moderate ringwear.

Labels--- Nice VG++.  Each label has some manufacturer’s white bubble from printing.  Very light spindle marks on each side.  They present extremely well.

Inner Sleeve--- Issued in a plain white sleeve with no die-cut holes for the labels to show.  Sleeve is nice and flat, but does have a one-inch split at the center bottom.  A generic white inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: NONE.

If you have a great cover for this LP, you will have an impressive keeper copy of this stupid-rare album.  If you have a Pink Floyd fan in your life, they will have a Christmas present that will blow their socks off, and short the tree out.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
