Description

Description Syd Barrett left the band due to mental instability caused by an overdose of drugs, and David Gilmour was brought in as a new guitarist. This album, colored with a cosmic psychedelic sound that followed the style of the previous album, produced some of the highlights on stage during this period, such as "Hymn to the Sun," written by Roger Waters and inspired by a novel by William Burroughs, and the title track, which consists of four parts and lasts 12 minutes. The album's title track, a four-part, 12-minute song, and "Hymn to the Sun," written by Roger Waters, were among the highlights of the band's stage performances. This was an important album for the band, which lost Barrett midway through the production of the album, and it was also the starting point for the four-piece band that followed.
