Description

In 1976, Pink Floyd began eight months of continuous recording to create 'Animals' at their own Britannia Row studios in London. The album was released in the UK on 21 January 1977, and reached No. 2 in the charts. 1977: The year of The Queen's Silver Jubilee; the year Virginia Wade won the women's Wimbledon final.

This album is the original HARVEST 1977 release of ‘Animals’, SHVL815. Matrix numbers A-2/B-4. The cardboard lyric inner has rounded corners, and in the lower right hand corner is the code SHVL(I). The bottom right inside corner of the cover is printed:

"Made and printed in Great Britain

7701  TM Garrod and Lofthouse Ltd"

The album is from my own collection; I am not a dealer, and I have owned it from new. I have not had a working turntable for many years, so can only give a visual appraisal of condition. The album has been stored upright, in a case, in a smoke-free household.

I would classify this copy as near mint. All parts of the album are in excellent condition, with very few signs of wear. As all classifications are subjective, I have given a detailed account of condition below:

Outer cover:          Two light creases to spine - spine measures approx 0.9cm wide

Right side edge to front has become unglued to about half way down (see photograph)

There is some sticky residue which can only be seen when the light catches it.

There are hardly any other signs of wear.

No bar code

Inner Sleeve:          The lower edge has a 4.5cm split (see photograph)

Virtually no other signs of wear

Side One:               The matrix marks on the runoff is SHVL815 A-2U

The spindle hole is unworn

Side Two:               Marked SHVL815 B-4U

                               The spindle hole is unworn

I have closely inspected the record under a bright light, and cannot find any scratches, other than a few, very faint ones which can only be seen under the light. I have not cleaned the disk as I am sure whoever buys the album will have their own preferred methods, but in any case the disk is not dirty or dusty.

This is a great copy. I will post it out very well packaged and protected.
