Description
PINK FLOYD
Atom Heart Mother
SHVL 781 -1G-1G The very first UK pressing of this awesome Floyd classic .
To celebrate this beautiful vinyl, I shall include an original 1970 concert ticket from the Dome, Brighton. Rare in itself and highly collectable!
Have come across many of these, but this one is far the best visually and aurally that I have personally observed. A fantastic addition to any serious vinyl collection.
Garrod & Lofthouse opening gatefold sleeve, normally found ailing in solidarity and heavily worn. This one is the best I have ever viewed. Unlaminated with virtually NO ring wear . Edges are excellent with only the slightest of rubs .The very first issue with Garrod text printed in lower left of inner face. Spine is square and solid which is normally found flattened and worn! ONE corner scuff only! Beautifully maintained with no deterioration in colours on front/reverse faces . An exceptional exhibit with just the lightest of brown age spotting in some areas, mainly on mid inner face . Hardly any creasing noticeable . This Hipgnosis cover caused a stir in the seventies with its unusual focus of a Freesian cow and one will be hard pressed to locate a better exhibit of this infamous first issue sleeve. Excellent condition!
Vinyl
Thick, quality press with surfaces offering a distinctive glossy sheen, very rare like this as both sides are virtually unmarked save for one visible surface only. Amazing visual .
Labels
Very good with no graffiti , rips or tears. NO E M I box confirming the earliest first issue of this remarkable album. Some mottling visible on both sides .
Inner sleeve
Original highly sought after Harvest advertising inner sleeve which completes this wonderful vinyl presentation. No rips or tears and a wonderful example of this hard to find inner, with just a little age discoloration on outer edges.
Audio
A sheer delight. In my opinion, an excellent grading for sure and so hard to find like this. This release is so difficult to find with a decent audio .The music at times is very soft rock, almost mesmeric and there are many extremely quiet passages throughout playback. Surface/static is detected very occasionally but remains distant and does little to affect this superb delivery. This is the best aural delivery that I have heard from this awesome release.
Fat Old Sun is a very soft, rock lullaby and is transmitted in exceptional style. Have not heard better. The only fault to mention is a minor divot(only surface mark visible under ordinary light) which produces a 3 / 4 rev. pop during one of the tracks. Not that obtrusive but one needs to know.
Alan’s Psychedelic breakfast is heard through wonderfully clear channels and have not heard better. The sizzling of his bacon rashers is all you do hear with no surface detected on this magnificent track. The constant dripping of the tap finalises the music and would continue indefinitely, if it were not for the automatic arm on record deck. This main feature again confirms that it is a true, genuine first UK pressing .
A magnificent example of this awesome Floyd album release . Virtually impossible to locate a better example of this phenomenal rock classic, complete with original Harvest inner sleeve, free original concert ticket stubb and to put the icing on an already very rich cake ,a sensational aural delivery, very rare to find on these earliest first presses!
