Description

An original 1st press of AHM on the UK Harvest label from 1970. Matrix A1G/B1G. Please note the labels mention 'Gramophone' in the perimeter label text and there's no 'EMI' label present - all indicative of very 1st press. The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. The left hand panel is factory sealed and the release date and patent info is mentioned down at the foot of the interior left panel. Also included is the original Harvest advertising inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Vg+/Ex-) In very nice condition and has only seen light to moderate use. Under close inspection we could make out a few light marks each side - nothing troublesome though. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly NEAREXCELLENT level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are nice and quiet and the audio comes across with great clarity. Interference is mostly minor and infrequent. This copy is not quite going to hit the top grades. AHM is an incredibly fussy record and I am picking up a bit of low-level static here and there. But it is pretty minor and not what you'd describe as invasive. Providing you can live with this then this 1st press will still deliver a very solid and assured rendition of this 70's masterpiece.
Cover (Vg/Vg+) It's quite a task trying to find original copies with even a remotely decent looking cover on this title. This one is holding up well, but does exhibit a bit of grubbiness in places. On the front there's a bit toward the spine and along the top edge. It's a similar story on the rear. The interior looks great with no signs of foxing or ageing at all - nice! Edge wear is very light for this title and the openings are still sharpish. The spine looks good with a couple of patches of wear.... the text is nearly all still legible. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
