Description
U.K. Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve Harvest/EMI pressing of Pink Floyd’s ‘Atom Heart Mother’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: Harvest/EMI SHVL 781). There is no date on the sleeve here however, the EMI label bag is dated 10/78 (i.e. October 1978). Obviously this isn’t a first pressing as it features boxed EMI logos on the labels (this is about one of the only things which differentiates this from a first pressing). The sleeve is still a flimsy, matt (un-laminated) example just like the originals. The vinyl still retains a nice ‘weight’ to it. This copy is from my personal collection and it really is a superior example. Like a lot of things I’m selling from my collection it is going because I’ve never bothered playing it (this is not to say it has never been played as this copy was purchased second-hand by me a number of years ago). I’d think this copy might have been played once. Under an intense light the only markings are thin, tiny hairline scratches. These are in no way excessively present. There is one area on the A-Side where there concentration is slightly more marked but otherwise they are sparingly present. They are a product of the vinyl being withdrawn from the label bag. There are no marks of substance (which can be seen in normal daylight or which can be felt). The vinyl is a confident EXCELLENT+ grade. The sleeve is also a pretty nice example with only a couple of very minor flaws. There has been virtually no loss of print or colour (through fading). There is the suggestion of ring-wear near the very top of the sleeve both front and rear and a light scuff on the rear in the same region where a small amount of print has been lost. The inside of the gatefold is immaculate. Each of the corners has received the lightest of knocks which has caused limited fraying. The most substantial knock has been to the top right-hand corner which has resulted in a small crease in this corner. There was once a sticker in the top right-hand corner which has long since been removed (without causing any damage I might add) but it has slightly discoloured the sleeve where it once was (a result of the glue leaching into the sleeve). There is some creasing along the spine where this has once sat in a rack. There is a light crease near the opening edge of the sleeve which is just about visible in the corresponding position on the rear of the sleeve which results from the sleeve being gripped between the fingertips whilst the vinyl has been removed. There aren’t really any major flaws to the sleeve and like the vinyl it clearly hasn’t seen much handling. Accordingly, we’re looking at an EXCELLENT/EXCELLENT+ grade.

Final Remarks
A really, really lovely example. I never brought rubbish and you’ll struggle to locate a much nicer copy. Please check my other auctions for a run of Pink Floyd LPs which I have for sale this week as well as other Pop, R&B, Rock and Soul collectables in similarly immaculate condition. Save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!
General Conditions & Information
I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader. I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!). As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself. I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light. Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself.
Returns Policy
If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt. The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.
Payment Methods
Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order. Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal. Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.
Postage Costs
I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013. Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00. Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically. Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise). Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required. I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it? Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion. Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).
Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs. I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.
Proof of postage is always obtained and retained.
Overseas Buyers
As noted above Overseas buyers are welcome. If you want me to investigate potential postage costs in advance of the auction’s end then please feel free to contact me.
