Stored in a protective sleeve from new, the iconic black prism gatefold sleeve is in stunning condition. No marks, discolouration, indentations, corner scuffs or ring wear whatsoever. The absolute bare minimum of one or two tiny (and I mean tiny) crease lines near the spine and one very minor crease on the back bottom left corner (see photos), but these are barely worth mentioning. Sharp and crisp opening edge is as new, and spine is firm and robust with no squashing. Inside the gatefold is virtually as new, and is marked “7303”, indicating March 1973 release date. Also printed is “File under popular: pop groups”. A really fantastic example.

Inner             EX

Plain black poly-lined inner with Patent No. 1,125,555 is in great shape, minimal creasing and just the very slightest of wear on the bottom and left edges.  

Labels          EX-   

Black Harvest labels with blue outline prism and EMI logo. No spindle traces. Some evidence of slight label “cracking” emanating from spindle holes (see photos).

Vinyl             MINT-   

The vinyl is in superb condition, no discernible scratches or hairline marks, both sides glossy and bright with no dulling or smudge marks. Only the very faintest of light sleeve removal traces evident when angled to the light. The LP has been fully play tested on a Project/NAD system with new Ortofon cartridge. There are no skips or jumps. Be aware there is a little crackle and static in some of the quieter passages, but overall stunning sound throughout, and a really great listen.

I have included the maximum of 12 high quality photos, taken in good light with a decent camera and from a variety of angles, so you can properly judge the detailed condition of the cover, inner and labels for yourself. Any notable marks or defects on these aspects of the LP will be clearly visible in the photos.

My own gradings are based on the standard record collector guidelines (see below).

I am not a record dealer, I am a 48-year old North London vinyl enthusiast re-creating my own private collection (having foolishly sold all my original LPs at a university record fair in my twenties!). The LP will be sent in a new polythene sleeve together with two additional card inserts set inside a new dedicated record mailer envelope. The vinyl will be separated from the cover to prevent any ring marking in transit. The package will be securely taped and marked with additional large “FRAGILE” taped stickers twice on both sides.

RECORD COLLECTOR MAGAZINE GRADING GUIDE

MINT: The record is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
