Ultimate Pink Floyd classic "Dark Side of the Moon" from 1973 in SQ Quadraphonic. Thrill to the awesome quadraphonic sound from the opening track. Lose your breath to Breathe and feel the chills as they run up and down your spine to the ticking and chiming of the clocks on TIME. Quadraphonic is the way this classic LP was meant to be listened to. The channel separation on this LP is par-excellence, this is one of the better non-CD4 Quadraphonic recordings I have ever heard and I got quite a few.
Nice quality gatefold jacket. Appears to have a couple of spots on cover that have been touched up with marker and minor corner ding otherwise no significant issues - no seam splits.
This is an extremely clean looking album with no visible scratches or scuffs. I've played it from start to finish. Overall this plays excellent. It is extremely quiet on the lead ins and transitions to/between songs, there very little to almost no audible background noise, just a couple errant pops here an there - on Side 2, I heard a single pop near end of Breathe and a couple at the very conclusion of the last track, Great Gig in the Sky as it goes into runoff. The whole sound effects section leading into Time is awesome sounding.
On Side 1 intro (run in) to Money is excellent, same with the transition/run in to Us & Them (very quiet). There is a section at very beginning of Us & Them when the music actually starts where it is scratchy sounding for roughly 15 seconds. Visual inspection reveals nothing on record - no scratches, no scuffs - it looks absolutely spotless - so I assume it's a flaw in the recording. Lead in to Brain Damage is awesomely quiet and plays that way throughout. Eclipse plays equally well with a couple of pops at conclusion as stylus goes into runoff.
If you pass this one up, you might want to check with your doctor to see if you have "BRAIN DAMAGE".
