PINK FLOYD- HIGH TIME

Side One:
Programme:Rome Goes Pop! Recorded at Palazzo Dello Sport, Rome, Monday 6th May 1968. Broadcast VPRO Radio, Holland*. ARD Television, West Germany**.

1. Astronomy Domine*
2. Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun*
3. Interstellar Overdrive**

Three stunning performances recorded at the First European International Pop Festival held in Italy. Thought to be held at the Piper Club in Rome due to poor ticket sales, recent research suggests this was indeed held at the Palazzo.
'Astronomy' and 'Set the Controls' were transmitted on Dutch radio station VPRO, and sourced here from a stereo rebroadcast. 'Interstellar' was broadcast on ARD Television and taken from the film soundtrack.

Side Two:
Programme: John Peel Night Ride. BBC Radio. Recorded at the Paris Cinema, London. Monday 12th May 1969.

1. Grantchester Meadows (Daybreak)
2. Cymbaline (Nightmare)
3. Green is the Colour/Careful with that Axe (The Beginning/Beset by Creatures of the Deep)
4. The Narrow Way

A fabulous session recorded around the time when Pink Floyd went on the road with 'The Man' and 'The Journey' suites. These were built around songs already familiar in the group's repertoire, plus improvised instrumental pieces.
'Grantchester Meadows', 'Cymbaline', and 'The Narrow Way' were all part of 'The Man', whilst 'Green is the Colour' and the lengthy instrumental passage was the opening number for 'The Journey'.
The source of this session is from an outstanding archive master.
