Welcome to my auctions- I have some interesting records that will be going up for auction this and next week, including many early Pink Floyd LPs, I'm trying to get round to list some records I have acquired over the last couple of months, so stay posted!
I use “Record Collector's” grading system as detailed below, however as I believe records can be graded between “very good” and “excellent”, so I now use “+” or “-” to attempt to catalogue an item precisely. Please note I never grade a record as “NM” (near mint) as I feel this is an extremely benighted way to grade!
- Mint: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

Excellent: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening of sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

Very Good: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration etc...

Fair: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Poor: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc.. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.

"Meddle represents the birth of Pink Floyd as we now know them today. After flailing somewhat after Syd Barrett's departure in 1968, they had a surprise hit in 1970 with Atom Heart Mother, an album comprised of a difficult side-long suite, backed with individual group pieces. In many respects, Meddle, released in 1971 is the same again, only with much, much, better tunes and less clutter."
On offer here is a very well presented UK first press, which features a fully textured gatefold sleeve, “The Gramophone Company Ltd” text, A1/B1 matrix numbers, and a date of “7110” printed on the sleeve.
Sleeve
The sleeve is in Very Good (+) condition. There are no rips or tears to note, however there is signs of shelfwear and there is edgewear, though not major.
When opened, there is some minor staining on the top left, but apart from a couple of small creases, there is no other damage to note.
Inner
The record is presented with the original EMI Harvest company inner, this is in excellent condition, with a few light creases.
Record
The record is in Very Good (+) condition. There are a couple of light surface marks visually, but can not be “felt” to touch.
The record was played on a Project Essential record player using a Ortofon 510 MK II cartridge. There is some light surface noise on the opening track “One Of These Days”, but as the record opens with a very low dynamic, this is to be expected. The record plays extremely well, with only minor surface noise in the extreme quiet sections.

ALL RECORDS ARE SENT OUT OF THE SLEEVE- this is to prevent any damage to the record and sleeve through transit. All records are sent in cruciform mailers, and with a brand new plastic wallet.
