One of the most beautiful albums ever released by this incredible band.....Pink Floyd's Soundtrack From The Film 'More' from 1969. It was one of the first feature films to use a contemporary Rock band to compose the soundtrack for a film. The film (Directed by Barbet Schroeder) has some beautiful imagery and scenes and though has achieved "cult status" over the years, is generally considered to be uneven and lacking cohesiveness. However, the music composed for it is strictly another matter. Composed and Produced by Pink Floyd, it is haunting, melodic, psychedelic, and truly unforgettable. In my opinion, it captures the post-psychedelic haze of the 60s (particularly in Europe) like no other. A real gem.
The copy on offer here is an early (possibly 1st?) Japanese pressing (OP-80165) from 1969/70. Apparently there was a brief press run on red colored vinyl prior to this one in Japan. However, they are exceedingly rare and when found, are usually in terrible condition. The interesting feature with this copy is the gatefold, which is unique to the Japanese edition. A 4-page insert is affixed at the middle with stills from the movie. In addition, lyrics are printed on the right side of the gatefold.
Condition of Gatefold Jacket: Near Mint.....sturdy board construction with superb transfer of the original artwork conceived and created by Hipgnosis. Spine is perfect as is the interior of the gatefold jacket. Superb example. No Obi.
Condition of Record: Near Mint....a beautiful shine to both sides....this record has hardly been played. Labels are near perfect with charcoal-matt surfaces....with only a trace of some faint spindle lines around the center. The audio is superb and distortion-free. A lovely copy and rare in this condition.
