Description
For auction is a very rare and complete genuine First U.K. mono issue of Pink Floyd’s debut album - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. On the Columbia label SX6157.
Original and genuine First issue sleeve - without the ‘File under Popular’ on the top right of the rear - is in great condition. I grade as a VG+, as has only minor edge and corner wear and light marks around the opening edge as an issue. Many copies have stains or writing on the unlaminated rear of the sleeve, but this copy is in good clean condition.
Original inner sleeve in very good condition with only minor creases and ageing as an issue.
Labels, with blue Columbia logo, are in excellent condition with no writing or tears and only spindle marks as an issue. KT tax label.
Very early stampers - 1R and 1M.
Side 1 - visually a VG+ with a few minor scuffs and hairlines visible under a bright lamp. Sonically is EX, as apart from very occasional light crackles, mainly noticed between tracks, there is nothing to detract from the clear vibrant sound. No noticeable clicks and no sticks skips or jumps.
Side 2 - visually at least EX-, with hardly any marks. The sound quality is easily as good as side one.
So, all in all a really excellent copy of a very rare and incredibly iconic album.
