Pink Floyd Piper Mono UK Psych 1st Press!
Seriously rare UK FIRST PRESS Mono copy of arguably the best Psychedelic record ever made.
This is the very first pressing which omits File Under Poplular Groups from the top right on reverse of sleeve. All consecutive pressings had File Under Popular Groups printed in this area.
Silver/Blue labels SX 6157.
Overall its a nice copy which is let down by noticeable surface noise and several skips at the start of Interstellar Overdrive, which is the first track on side two. Once the whole band kicks in, it's fine as the problem only lasts for the short intro of the song. For some reason this is not the first time I have heard of the same problem (beginning of same track) on other copies of the record which leads me to think that it was actually a pressing fault on some of the first batch?
Apart from this fault the record is generally VG+/EX- with only a few light marks. Anyone who has owned a Mono copy will notice the striking difference. It's a much louder and dynamic in your face sound and mix compared to the stereo version.
Sleeve is VG+ No major problems, some laminate creasing and a couple of small splits top right opening edge. Also a couple of biro lines on reverse to left. Hopefully all of this is clearly visible in photographs.
Original advertising inner is in good shape with some biro writing on the top right of one side.
