Description
First pressing on blue Columbia label of this absolute masterpiece, this is the MONO version, the way Syd Barrett did mean to be heard. More, it's the rarest and most sought after version of the first pressing, having the rear sleeve without the "file under POPular music" text and printed by Ernest J. Day.
Very early copy, too: Matrix are 3419-2 and 3420-1. Mothers & Stampers are 1-M and 1-A: both sides were pressed from the first mother!
Condition:
- Sleeve is a solid Vg++, laminate is still very shiny, non laminate rear is slightly yellowed, spine has The Pink Floyd text fully and clearly readable.
- Vinyl is Vg+ : despite of some light background crackle there is no backround noise/hiss/distortion and the sound is incredibly powerful, bright and fully enjoyable.
- Labels: Exc- very clean, KT embossed on side 1 label (see photo)
- Inner sleeve: the rare advertising Emi inner is in Exc condition.

On 27-Nov-07 at 14:35:46 GMT, seller added the following information:I've received many inquiries about the "file under POPular" text that you will NOT FIND on this copy, and about where it should have been located in the back cover.
Well, very first copies of Piper did not have that text on the top right angle of the back cover ( photo n° 3 in my auction ), on the upper fold. That's why these copies are more sought after, valuable and rare. Very soon, the file under popular text began to appear, and it is considered easier to find. So, if you are looking for one of the earliest copies of this record, you will want to check very carefully ( as it is written in very small characters ) the fold at the top right of rear sleeve.
