Description

PINK FLOYD - 'UMMAGUMMA'

1969 UK 1st PRESSING DOUBLE LP

This well-looked after 1969 UK 1st pressing is on the green & yellow Harvest label: SHDW 1 & SHDW 2

Both labels omit the later added EMI boxed logos but have 'Gramophone Co..' rim texts.

Label 4 misspells the word 'Grand' as 'GAND' in the track 4 song title.

The discs are housed within an outer laminated 'Ernest J. Day' printed gatefold cover with a 7mm wide-spine.

Complete with both original poly-lined Harvest advertising inner-sleeves.

Matrix numbers: SHDW 1 A-1, SHDW 1 B-2 & SHDW 2 A-1, SHDW 2 B-3

Stamper numbers: 2/MT, 2/OA & 2/MM, 1/A

Vinyl weight: 137g & 141g

CONDITION

Disc

Labels: 1 & 2: NEAR MINT  3 & 4 MINT

A superb set with just a handful of tiny spindle trails to the side 2 centre hole and two on 1. Labels 3 & 4 are completely free from any such marks or wear.

Visual: EXCELLENT +

All playing surfaces of this fine condition set are clean & glossy. Careful inspection in strong daylight shows no significant marks or wear and definately nothing I would call a scratch. What visual blemishes exist are only harmless wispy paper-type hairlines all consistent with the few careful plays this well-looked after copy has received. Close examination directly beneath my halogen desk lamp does little more than highlight the abovementioned marks, adding nothing more than a sparkling rainbow shine. All sides lie 100% flat on the turntable when playing.

Play: EXCELLENT +

This fine copy has recieved only some extremely careful play by its previous owner on high-end equipment. Disc 1 has received a handful of plays and disc 2 even less. My careful play-check at volume detected some light background to both run-ins and fade-ins of the first tracks on each side of disc 1 but apart from that, there was little to fault. Disc 2, like disc 1 played without any groove/play wear or indeed any clicks, pops or any such other audible distractions.

Cover

EXCELLENT

A super strong & extremely clean example with just some light storagewear rubbing to the laminate & just two small 'thumbnails', but no further signs of wear. All corners are clean & sharp and completely free form any bumps or bruising. All opening edges are sharp and unworn with just two tiny 'pushes' to the rear edge of the rear pocket. The inside of the gatefold is clean, unmarked & unworn and all seams are smooth, unstressed & unsplit. The spine is completely white, square and uncrushed with no bends or creasing along its length.

Inner-sleeves

VERY GOOD

Both have general handing & storagewear but the poly-linings are intact and there are no seam splits, tears or writing anywhere.
