Description

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
I am pleased to offer for sale this exceptional example of Pink Floyd's ninth studio album: Wish You Were Here.
As is shown below, the album features all the signs of a true UK first pressing. Remarkably, the record retains the original black shrink wrap that the album was sold in 48 years ago!!
Album Details:
Serial number: SHVL 814
Matrix number: A - 1 / B - 4
Mother & stamper codes: 3 RGL / 1 GOD
Vinyl Weight: 146g
The matrix numbers inform us that the vinyl is a UK first pressing crossover. Side 1 is from the first pressing run and side 2 is from the second (B-3 is first). The mother & stamper codes suggest that the record was produced relatively early in the production run. Consequently, the audio reproduction is fantastic! Take a listen yourself below!
The labels are the first variant with Waters-Gilmour-Wright song-writers credit for 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' Side 1 Part 5. This was reduced to Waters on later variants
The sleeve is the first variant evidenced by the pinched spine, black shrink wrap and Wish You Were Here sticker.
Completing the album is the original card lyric inner sleeve, with a notch to the top edge and which is die-cut on three of the four corners, and the first variant postcard with crinkled edges.

Condition:
The condition report provided below is given as a guide only. I include high-quality, comprehensive photographs as well as a complete audio recording in my listings to enable you to make an informed decision on the condition of this record yourself.
Vinyl: EXCELLENT +
Labels: MINT -
The labels are bright, clean and without writing. No spindle wear is visible.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
The record retains superb deep-gloss playing surfaces. In bright daylight there are no visible marks to the surface of the record. Under the glare of a halogen desk lamp wispy paper hairline marks can be seen alongside an iridescent rainbow sheen.   Sound Quality: EXCELLENT
Please use the eBay internet site to enjoy the audio clips. The eBay app does not facilitate playback.
Side 1:

Side 2:

As can be heard in the audio clips, the vinyl sounds simply fantastic. Both lead-ins are quiet. Side 1 is a strong EX+. Side 2 has a little more audible static during the dead wax and in some quiet sections but which does not generally bleed into the tracks. There is great channel separation, superb clarity and exceptional dynamism. A fantastic listen.
Sleeve: EXCELLENT +
The sleeve looks superb! The shrink has been opened along the opening edge which it has pulled away from over time. As is to be expected, the shrink has slightly wrinkled as has a couple of fragile tears. The visible front cover is very subtly discoloured. The two visible corners are strong. The pinched spine, although not visible, is distinct.
Inner Sleeve: MINT -
The original inner sleeve looks new.
Additional Details:
Before the audio test was performed the vinyl was cleaned first by an Okki Nokki vacuum cleaner (using L'art du Son cleaning solution) and then an Audio Desk ultrasonic cleaner.
After cleaning, the vinyl is housed inside a brand new mobile fidelity anti-static inner sleeve.
The vinyl will be packaged outside of the sleeve, both of which are stored inside an archival quality polypropylene outer sleeve.
The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.

Please see my other listings for more Floyd rarities.
Bidders with less than ten feedback please get in touch before bidding otherwise your bid will be removed.

* PLEASE NOTE: This album has not been re-listed. As incredible as it may seem I have two records with exactly the same mother & stamper codes.
