Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" 1967 Mono MAL-2835
Gatefold jacket excellent condition. Frontal appearance rates very close to near mint with only apparent flaw being a slight indent on outer right edge near top. The spine is crisp and sharp with no cracks or seam splits and displaying full/complete lettering. The bottom edges, both front cover and back portion, are perfect in appearance - no wear and NO seam split. Top edge of jacket front is perfect while the backside has top separation (split) on extreme outer edge where you'd insert record of approx 1 & 1/2" (see pic). Backside appearance rates excellent overall with a blunted top corner on right side (top of spine) and a crease line/crack near top in middle (see pics).
Appearance of inside jacket is near mint. Nice and white with no stains. Complete booklet in near mint condition - no creased or torn pages, no stains, nice sharp corners.
The LP displays very nice labels with minimal wear around hole. I would rate the LP to be VG in appearance. It has obviously seen it's fair share of playtime, displaying numerous scratches/lines on both sides.
Play quality is just (maybe) slightly better than VG. This was been thoroughly play tested on a Pioneer PL-35A turntable with a high end Audio Technica cartridge and stylus thru a Sansui QRX-5500 Quadraphonic receiver using all 4 speakers. There is fairly constant surface noise (snap, crackle and pops) present, but nothing I would call excessive or so overly obtrusive to ruin or severely detract from the listening experience. Side 1 "Fool on the Hill" and "Your Mother Should Know" both play with a fair amount of snap, crackle and pop throughout. "I am the Walrus" plays with quite a bit of surface noise. This plays with no skips and no really loud recurring pops on either side. A deep cleaning might be of great benefit here, but irregardless, it plays fairly well.
If you're looking for a solid Mono version of this classic album with a quality jacket/booklet and acceptable/decent listening experience, this one should fill the bill nicely.
